…the February flu blues…

Virginia has been off the blogosphere (and any-o-sphere) for a week with a bad case of the flu. Extreme chills, high fever, headache, body aches, and bad cough – evidently this flu is running rampant through our town.

So not fun, having the flu. My brother and I were meant to have a 4-day getaway over the weekend but had to cancel. Not just flu blues, but disappointment blues, too.

Misery loves company, so they say. My brother Dwight is now down with flu blues, too. Sniffling, shuffling by sis. Hack. Hack.

Whose germs, what and where? (Lysol spray deployed everywhere.)

Fortunately my February flu blues have softened a notch, petering their way out.

Enduring flu blues made me think of friends and dear ones fighting more serious challenges. Cancer. Terminal illnesses. Broken heart blues, broken life blues.

For some dear ones, medical blues and life blues won’t just peter out. A few may lessen for a short time, but cancer aches, body aches, heart and broken life aches are ever present.

‘Tis humbling, that. My flu blues heart asks God for healing graces for all of you suffering the blues wherever you are. May God give you enduring grace to face your blues with extra doses of peace, comfort and love.

grace, peace & flu blues

    Great quote at the end!

    • Virginia says:

Tim Hansel suffered from intense pain 24/7 after a climbing accident. My papa (who also suffered 24/7 pain as a bedfast quadriplegic) loved his book, “You Gotta Keep Dancin.” Blessings, Nora!🎶 😷🎶

I’m glad to hear that your February Blues are on their way out. Wrap up warm and cuddle up to Kermit and Hippo. Spring is on its way!

    • Virginia says:

Spring is not quite here yet (snow is forecasted today) but I am so glad to finally be over the flu (& subsequent cough infection!) Blessings, Jane – be well! 🌷😷🌷

  3. Michelle says:

Oh no! I hope you and your brother feel better soon!!!

    • Virginia says:

Thanks, Michelle – we are both better. My flu morphed into a really bad cough infection, but I am so (very) glad to finally be well! Hope that you are staying well. Blessings! 🌷😷🌷

    Atchoo! Atchoo! What a to-do!
Sorry to hear you’re feeling blue,
Sorry to hear you’ve fallen for flu: but,
    Not fallen far from favour.
    (Or blogging friends!)

Get well soon y’all! Keep smiling 😀

Hey Dewin, your poem really brightened up the flu blues! I am so (very) glad to finally be well after my flu morphed into a bad cough infection that dragged on (& on.) Hope you are staying warm and well as winter marches on. Blessings & (germ free) blogging hugs! 💨😷💨🤗💨😷💨

      • Dewin Nefol says:

A pleasure as always Virginia, thank you 😀

I’m very pleased to hear you are returning to fine fettle after succumbing to a bad cough infection. I think many fall foul of flu at this time of year as withering weather chills the air and snow lays upon the ground. Thankfully it will soon be Spring (yahoo!) and with it comes warming sunshine and warming temperatures.

All is well here thank you: a mild winter in relation to elsewhere around the globe, albeit a soggy, wild, wet and windy one!

Keep a smile on your dial. Take good care of one and all,

        DN

        P.S: Loved the emoi line-up!

      • Virginia says:

Blessings, Dewin — glad you have not been knocked down with the flu. I feel like February was “flu cough” month! Germ free hugs! 🙂

      • Dewin Nefol says:

Stay warm and cosy and all will be rosy in March.

        Brightest Blessings,

        DN

So sorry you have the flu! My son’s whole family is sick. Schools here have even been closed due to illness. I pray you are feeling well again soon! Blessings, Virginia!

    • Virginia says:

Cindy, schools here have also been severely impacted by the flu. I am rejoicing to finally be well after my flu morphed into a bad cough infection that dragged on (& on.) Hope your son’s family is better! Blessings & (germ free) blogging hugs! 😷🙏🤗🙏

V, face it. My extensive medical background (blatant lie) tells me that your flu is nothing more than your body scolding you for cutting back on sugar. 🤓

    • Virginia says:

LoL, Tim! So glad to finally be well after flu morphed into bad cough infection. Altho I went thru several boxes of popsicles, they were No Sugar Added (virtuous choice.) Must confess to falling into sugar @ our local Brewster’s for a decadent chocolate ice cream treat the other day. Sigh. It was SO good, but now that memory must last! 🍫🍧🍫🤪🍫🍧

  7. Oh dear-we have the flu here too-and just like you, I always think of those who are chronically sick. I hope you are soon better.

    • Virginia says:

Michele, I’m so glad to finally be well after my flu morphed into a bad cough infection that dragged on (& on.) So sorry flu is going around there, too. Here whole schools have been impacted. Yikes! Be well!!! 💨😷💨🤪💨

  8. I’ve just gotten over it. Hope you and your brother feel better soon.

    • Virginia says:

Oh, hope you are all well! My flu morphed into a bad cough infection that dragged on (& on.) I am so glad to finally be well! Here’s to staying well, cheers! 💨😷💨

  9. My Carmel says:

Dear Virginia, I pray you’re completely recovered from the flu. It’s very bad everywhere this season 😦 God’s blessings! ❤

    • Virginia says:

Thank you, Patty. It took over two weeks to be completely ‘over’ the flu (+ cough infection.) Yikes! So glad to be better, thanks be to God. Hope that you will be well! Blessings & germ-free hugs! 🙂

Oh my gosh I loved this! I’ve had the flu so many times since October, it’s gotten ridiculous. This time I added tonsillitis to the mix. Ugh. Flu blues is right! But I’m coming out of it, seriously taking a slew of supplements to bolster my immune system! Prayers all are well!!!
