More than just Inspirational Appreciation of Brenda’s hot husband Fritz & dreamy Sgt. Gabriel in each episode, The Closer can most certainly be considered Inspirational TV. As Atlanta transplant Deputy Police Chief Brenda Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) struggles to adapt to L.A., lead her L.A.P.D. special team in tackling High Profile murders (& other Very Bad Goings-On), and Have A Life (with her F.B.I. agent Husband, Fritz) – she is so very inspiring (& often hilarious..)
This is one of my favorite t.v. shows(!) Last year my sister Shere gave me the 1st Season on DVD & then we ‘Co-Gifted’ the rest (her birthday – my birthday – Sisters Day) for Seasons 2 – 6 & will look forward to Season 7 (maybe Christmas?)
ok, you may think, just another Cop Show… but there’s great Character Development of each member of Brenda’s Team (altho they could spend a Bit More Time focusing on Sgt. Gabriel : ) & how they face their personal & professional challenges & how (over time) they come together as a Team.
Brenda & her Team tackle Tough Stuff – human trafficking, rape, gang wars, pediophile kidnappings & Homicides of every type (usually a Murder Investigation of some sort gets each show going…) It’s not necessarily rated G for Grandmama (contingent upon respective Murder-O-Meters…)
Writing about Father Gregory Boyle, S.J. yesterday reminded me of My Favorite Episode that methinks is based on him in Real Life. In Season 5, Episode 5 (“Half Load,”) Brenda must solve the murder of a former gang member who is working at the Crenshaw Community Center run by Father Jack – who runs a ministry helping reformed Gang members (kind of like Homeboy Industries ?!?) In the 1st Season Brenda bumped heads with this same Father Jack (!), so this episode is particularly good as they Must Sort Out Their Differences and Try to Get Along – to find the killer & bridge the growing gulf between the community the the L.A.P.D.
This episode gets Five Stars from Virginia’s Inspiratameter (*****)! Check it out & see if you’re not inspired…

Ginny,
Have watched many times and join you in your enthusiasm for the show. We’ll have to watch together soon! Luv, cin
It’s loads of fun & often food for thought (not just the ‘eye candy’ actors! : )
I think Lynn likes this too, so maybe in Va. Beach you can catch up on episodes (we have all 6 seasons so a lending deal, i’m sure, can be worked out! : ) Gin
