Brené Brown: Wild Heart Paradox(es)

Last month I happened upon Brené Brown’s Netflix special “The Call to Courage.” Inspired by her authentic sharing, I quickly found her Vulnerability TED talk on YouTube (the one filmed in Houston.) More inspiration wows. Then I delved into her books. Two weeks ago I finished reading “Braving the Wilderness” and now I’m in the middle of “Daring Greatly.”

If your courage muscles need a workout or a bit of extra motivation to wade through whatever challenges life is throwing at you (and our world) these days, I highly recommend Brené Brown’s books and videos (she is an amazing speaker!)

“The mark of a wild heart is living out the paradox of love in our lives. It’s the ability to be tough and tender, excited and scared, brave and afraid – all in the same moment… A wild heart can also straddle the tension of staying awake to the struggle of the world and fighting for justice and peace, while also cultivating its own moments of joy.” Brené Brown, from “Braving the Wilderness”

grace, peace & (courageous) wild hearts

Virginia: Nice, nice shot of the daylily. I’ve been photographing ours throughout the summer. Thanks for the Brene Brown reminder. I always hear good things about her. Speaking of courage, I just read an article about conditions in Syria.

    Talk about courage…

Tim – the conflict in Syria is so horrific! Thank you for sharing this link – I’m glad things are slowly getting back to “normal” but with so much conflict & loss recovery will take a long time, a really long time! 🌟😢🌟

I’ve never heard of her before! I’ll definitely have to look into these.

Michelle, I had not heard of her either, but she is an inspiring speaker & writer – incredibly real. Hope you get a chance to check out her Netflix special & her book “Braving the Wildernesses.” Blessings!! 📚🤗📚

  3. I love Brene Browns books as well. “Daring Greatly” is amazing and insightful, urging the reader to live a bold, heart centered life. The courage to be vulnerable in a cruel and judgemental world is a necessary skill for deep and meaningful connection.

Being boldly vulnerable is not easy (especially these days!) Brene Brown’s books & videos outline a courageous path to deeper connections- something we need much more of! Glad to ‘meet’ another Brene Brown groupie in the blogosphere. Cheers! 🌟📚🌟

  4. Her famous quote on courage or comfort is currently on display at my local bakery.
