On this Advent Friday here is a Benedictine prayer for the nighttime (that also works when things seem dark and gloomy…)
“Now in the fading light of day,
Maker of all to You I pray,
That with Your ever-watchful love,
You guard and keep me from above.
Help and defend me through the night,
Danger and terror put to flight.
Never let evil have its way,
Preserve me for another day.
Father Almighty this be done,
Through Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Who in one Spirit I adore,
Who reigns with You forevermore. Amen.”
“The Lord is my Light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?…” Psalm 27:1

Very calming and assuring prayer … God’s in his heaven and all is right with the world. 🙏
Amen, Rambling Rose. A friend shared this at a party a few years ago, but what a great prayer for this year! ✨🙏✨
Love this. Happy Friday Virginia!
Thank you, Dr. Andrea. Wishing you and yours a holiday blessed with extra doses of love! 🌟💜🌟
I’d never heard that prayer — it’s beautiful! Thank you, Virginia, for showing me that we’re never too old to learn something new, ha!!
A friend shared this prayer at a party a few yrs ago (I wrote it out on a napkin) but how appropriate for this year! I believe it’s used for Compline prayers @ Benedictine monasteries. Hugs, Debbie! 🌟🙏🌟🤗🌟
