“The opposite for courage is not cowardice, it is conformity. Even a dead fish can go with the flow.” (Jim Hightower)
Wherever you’re swimming in the rivers of life, if at times it’s tough going upstream against the current, keep swimming! keep swimming!! keep swimming!!!
HAVE COURAGE! HAVE COURAGE!! HAVE COURAGE!!!
…& DON’T GIVE UP!!!

p.s. Shared this Jamestown photo previously, but today it somehow tickled my funny bone. May it tickle (& motivate) once again.
GL,
Great pic from Capetown Aquarium… thought provoking quote 🐟 🐟 🐟
Thanks Cin – I had forgotten Dwight & I visited the 2 Oceans Aquarium when we connected up in Cape Town. We’ve actually been to quite a few aquariums now: Baltimore, Cape Town, NC Aquarium (in Manteo), Va. Beach Aquarium, Georgia Aquarium (*****), Vancouver Aquarium, SC Aquarium (in Charleston), & the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga that was surprisingly AMAZING. You know how he loves fishies!! 🙂 Hugs!
Something to think about today – conformity being the opposite of courage. Interesting.
Hi Bernadette – sometimes it takes lots of courage to go ‘against the flow’ of conformity, especially when conformity &/or the ‘status quo’ perpetuates injustice. It might be easy to wear a bright purple top when purple is out of fashion (i wear purple & green all the time whether it’s ‘in’ or not), but much harder to reach out & stand up for those marginalized in our society when others spit at us for so doing. Hence, we must keep swimming, courageously, until maybe enough of us can change the current!
Blessings! Virginia 🙂
We have been swimming against this current a lifetime and have made some changes for the better but it is hard to see those positive changes being dismantled in favor of greed.
Bernadette, It’s hard, hard, hard… but if we keep putting our drops in the bucket of change, maybe one day it will overflow (with us still swimming in it!) 🙂
