And so it begins…today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation, of waiting (patiently) for Christmas – a season of Hope, Joy, Peace and Love.
Seasonal goals that may seem elusive in the hustle and bustle of holiday obligations, parties, shopping, and to-do lists a mile long.
Advent is an opportunity to wake ourselves up to God’s presence, to make more room in the inns of our hearts for the coming of Christ, for His love to shine in and through us.
Advent is a journey of Light in the darkness, of wonder and faith as we travel toward new beginnings with Mary to the manger.
Advent is a time to say “yes” to what God asks of us:
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
“Always remember this: life is a journey. It is a path, a journey to meet Jesus. At the end, and forever. It is to continually encounter Jesus.” Pope Francis
grace, peace & Advent journeys
Virginia : )
p.s. Virginia is once again attempting her post-a-day Advent gig. Realizing that this is an extra busy time (concerts, parties, holiday preparations) Virginia decided to utilize a ‘Snapshot & Whatnot’ format for posts this year. I know that many friends and readers are from different faith traditions, but I hope that a quickie quote, photo, and Advent meandering might spread a bit of joy and understanding around. Be welcome to join me on this Advent journey!
Love the wreaths!
Nora, I also like these wreaths. The Busch Gardens theme park here in Williamsburg has a winter Christmas Town that’s rather spectacular with over 6 million lights, train rides, shows (even an ice skating one) and holiday foods from around the world. Lots of fun! 🙂
