On this second day of Advent, contemplating faith as a verb…
“Sorrow looks back. Worry looks forward. Faith looks up.” Anonymous
“Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the Light.” Helen Keller
grace, peace & faith
Virginia : )
As usual, very illustrative, well-chosen quotes. Thanks!
T.
Thank you, Tim. Sometimes it’s easy to forget looking UP when the down stuff drowns us, a bit. Big hugs & (lots of) faith (the kind that looks UP!) 🙂
Faith as a verb, I like this.
Jane, Faith as a verb can be a challenge – to get up off our tushis and do something about what we believe (like being the hands and feet of Love and hope to those around us? Even cranky folks?) Advent hugs! 🙂
And to you, too, Virginia. It’s a very present challenge here in the Uk, especially in the current political climate!
Jane, I can only imagine (not too hard to do given our political climate here!) 😱🤪😱
Faith…substance of things hoped for…evidence of things not seen. Faith truly is looking up when it may seem like there’s nothing to look up to.
Hey Sunshine, I see you are a Hebrews 11 groupie, too. (We had to memorize it in school many, many moons ago, but it has stayed with me all these years, so I am grateful.) Faith looks UP, but ‘taint always easy as you’ve said. Think of the roster of faith in Hebrews 11 – Abraham, Sarah, Enoch, Noah, Joseph, Moses, et all – who weathered TOUGH times by faith. I think courage is part & parcel of faith – because we need lots of it to look up when what’s down is making us drown. Much love & faith Up-Look grooves – VA 🙂
Virginia, I love this — “Sorrow looks back. Worry looks forward. Faith looks up.” Anonymous
I love it, too, Debbie. It’s a challenge to have the faith to look UP when there are (way too) many things dragging us down. Advent hugs! 🙂
