Years ago my sister gifted me the classic book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss. Filled with wisdom for 20-something Virginia stepping out in the wide world, the timeless insights of Dr. Seuss therein still resonate with a much older Virginia.
Here’s to stepping out today with dexterous courage and tact (Dr. Seuss style) as challenges continue to loom large in our lives and in our world…
A strange looking birdie (a Little Blue Heron)
“You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.” ~ Dr. Seuss

Great Blue Heron being dexterous and deft
“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!” ~ Dr. Seuss
Yakety-yak, my troubles are in trouble with ME!
“Think and wonder, wonder and think.” Dr. Seuss
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” Dr. Seuss
Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do?
To blend in or have dexterous courage to act.
“When the world says, “Give up,” Hope whispers, “Try one more time.โย You have more potential than you believe you do.โ ~ Dr. Seuss

Thank you, feel better
Thanks, Carol-Jo. I am doing MUCH better. Hope that you are staying WELL. (My Papa always said, “If you can’t be good, at least BE CAREFUL!”) LoL – lots of love – VA ๐
This was a spot of bright…thank you!
A dose of Dr. Seuss sometimes is ‘just the thing’ to brighten up the perspective side of things… Blessings! ๐
What a great book! My son got one, too (I think upon graduation, but I’m not sure if it was high school or college). Love all these birdies!
Pulled the book out yesterday- itโs still uplifting all these years later! The โstrange birdsโ reference brought to mind a few spotted on various trips, but that Young heron wins a prize. They are not that common, as we found out @ the Toms Cove info center in Chincoteague… Hope you are keeping well, Debbie. Cheers! ๐๐๐๐
Love it!! ๐
Thank you, Cin – Iโll never forget you memorizing Yurtle The Turtle when we were growing up! Dr. Seuss fans for life! ๐๐ค๐
