Virginia (the person) has been mostly offline this week. She and her brother Dwight have enjoyed a busy “staycation” day-tripping from home to nearby places in Virginia (the state.)

On Monday we enjoyed a lovely outing to the charming town of Smithfield, Virginia – about an hour’s drive from Williamsburg via the Jamestown Scotland Ferry. After traipsing around the town, we ventured out for a walk in Windsor Castle Park.

Our walk got off to a good start with this sighting…

โWho could refrain that had a heart to love and in that heart courage to make love known?โ William Shakespeare

We saw these egrets “social distancing” across the water as we social distanced ourselves from other walkers. (It’s a big park, not hard to give everyone lots of space!)

Not many fall colors yet to be seen (we returned with a little sunburn from an 80F degree sunny day) but we spotted these few colorful leaves hiding along the way.

We were not the only ones enjoying the sunshine!

All in all, a beautiful day and way to get away from it all!

We ended our day with a short ride in the country to experience a little bit of fall at Darden’s Country Store. Their delectable homemade apple pie and treats definitely made our staycation grooves yummier!

Virginia : )
Cool leaves and I always like wetland shots.
Thanks, Tim. That blue heron surprised us. We hung out on a small pier for a few minutes waiting to see if he would fly away – didn’t happen. 30 minutes later on our way back through we looked and Mr. Blue Heron was in the exact same spot, but at least this time he flexed his feathers! Birding blessings! : )
Great clicks!
Thank you, Diana. Fun to click away on a beautiful day!
So lovely! So much to see by just looking and you did! Plus share with us. Thanks ๐
Glad you enjoyed our day-tripping, GH. We had not been to Smithfield since February – the week before our COVID quarantine began. ‘Twas a treat to visit again (masks in tow.) Blessings! ๐
I sure did. Take care Virginia๐ฅฐ
Good for you, getting out with your brother and enjoying the day! I haven’t seen my only sis in months now, and both of us are eager for a get-together. Love the Fall display at the country store!
My younger brother Dwight and I share our home (hence he pops up often in blogs here.) We started traveling together years ago (he visited me several times overseas) and enjoy many common interests (flowers, art, music, books et all.) It will be nice to reconnect (in person) with our out-of-town sibs, hopefully @ Thanksgiving. We miss our ‘in person’ time together!! Fall is coming, yaaay! Blessings, Debbie!
You’re so fortunate to have him close — good for both of you! So many sibs can’t seem to get along, and I find that extra-sad, particularly when the parents have passed.
Lovely photos Virginia! Thank you for sharing them! Many blessings! โค
Thank you, Patty. Fall is not quite fully here yet (not like the lovely pics you posted on Instagram near you) but there are glimpses here and there. (And we can finally open our windows to cooler temps!) Blessings and hugs to you! ๐
Staycations can be a lot of fun! Great photos and a beautiful day!๐๐บ๐
We had a grand staycation week, Steve. The clouds that day in Smithfield looked like a painting! Cheers! ๐ค๐๐ค
That’s great, I actually enjoy doing some staycations, it’s amazing what a person can find right near where they live.๐๐บ๐๐
You are so good about sharing pics from where you live – last year I looked your town up on the map. It seems so lovely (although chilly in winter!) Hope you are enjoying a HaPpY Canadian Thanksgiving! ๐๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐จ๐ฆ
Thank you so much Virginia! It is a nice sunny Thanksgiving day here and nearly 50F. But the cold air moves in on Wednesday with some light snow!๐๐บ๐๐ฅถ๐จ
Snow?? Itโs still in 70sF here! Glad itโs sunny for your Thanksgiving- enjoy! โ๏ธ๐๐ค
