This weekend my brother & I are zooming out of town to celebrate his birthday. Since Dwight is my YOUNGER BROTHER, his age shall not be divulged. Let’s just say there are a few decades to celebrate.
LIFE IS A GIFT. For Dwight it truly is given the fact he was born with a hole in his heart. (Last year I blogged about it – you can click to read it here: Birthdays, Birthdays.)
Since we are scrambling this evening to get ready for an early departure, here’s a quote from a favorite author to mind-munch:
“Birthdays are important. On our birthdays we celebrate being alive. We should never forget our birthdays or the birthdays of those who are close to us. They remind us that what is important is not what we do or accomplish, not what we have or who we know, but that we are, here and now. On birthdays let us be grateful for the gift of life.” Henri Nouwen, Bread for the Journey

p.s. That’s my Mama’s precious hand in that picture taken last year on her 80th birthday. (Note the chocolate cake & chocolate ice cream — her kind of dessert!) Oh, how we miss her!!
p.s.2. There will be a brief hiatus of Lenten posts here @ Roses in the Rubble due to celebratory travel itineraries. Normal Lenten posts shall resume on Tuesday, March 1st. Have a blessed weekend!!
Y’all have a great time celebrating! Recognized mother’s sweet hand right away–a precious memory!! XO
Enjoy your travel days. Love the picture of your mother’s hand-it’s a sweet and dainty picture.
