Penguins! Penguins! Penguins!

Virginia invites you to take a levity timeout today with penguins. There’s something to be said for taking laughter breaks during times of stress (as shared here a week or two ago.) Looking at penguins tends to make me smile…

“There is something playful about God. You only have to look at a penguin to realize that God likes to play little jokes on creatures.” Thomas Keating, O.C.S.O.

“Look at God looking at you…and smiling.” Anthony de Mello, S.J.

“Laughter bursts out of the small world of our seriousness and greed and self importance and allows the water of life to flow freely to all, relieving the dryness and barrenness of our parched spirits.” Conrad Hyers

“I think the main reason we have so little joy is that we take ourselves too seriously.”  Thomas Merton

I love penguins, and these are so cute! On the news, they showed the penguins (and their carers) taking a stroll in the vacant Shedd Aquarium in Chicago recently — you should’ve seen how cute that was! The little guys (and gals) hopping down the stairs and in those vacant hallways!

Debbie, my brother Dwight is a HUGE Aquarium groupie. He posted one of those Chicago penguin videos on Facebook last week. So fun! We’ve never visited the Chicago Aquarium, but we’ve been to others: Georgia, Baltimore, NC/Manteo, SC Charleston, Cape Town, San Francisco, Vancouver, Tennessee/Chattanooga, and the Va. Beach Aquarium several times including last month for Dwight’s birthday. If you ever have the chance to visit the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, it’s amazing! We were there when it opened @ 9:00a.m. til 5 – so much to sea 👀🌊🤪🌊👀
