Today here’s a quote from noted author and activist, Nora Neale Hurston, that made me pause. It may be short, but it packs a powerful punch!
“Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.” Zora Neale Hurston
Here’s to letting God’s Love motivate our souls to do a little more outside ourselves today, push us out of our comfort zones, and open our hearts like the gentle unfurling of a rose.
grace, peace & soulful motivation

To reach out and help others. thank you.
Amen! Here’s to reaching out as much as we can! Blessings!
Hadn’t heard that one before, but it’s a goodie. Thanks for sharing, Virginia!
Hi Debbie, I looked up Zora Neale Hurston (1891-1960.) She was quite an activist and writer – now I want to read her books!
You’ll know far better than I Virginia, that a rose glows best in the light of Love.
Hoping you and yours are well and safe. Take care ๐

Amen, Dewin. Roses glow best in the Light of love – but they are pretty scrappy and can even grow in rubble. (How I named this blog, “Roses in the Rubble” – I saw roses in the rubble of destroyed homes in Kosovo many years ago, and duly took photos!)
Please take care of yourself and your family — blessings & (germ free) hugs. Haven’t hugged many people in COVID times, but at least it’s nice to share virtual ones. (We Americans are usually a huggy bunch!) —
Blessings – VA : )
Seeing roses growing from rubble must have been a very poignant, and moving experience: a sense of lingering remembrance, beauty, and renewed hope. I wonder if you remember what colour the roses were?
Thank you Virginia, we will certainly do our best to take care, it would be foolish not to…we are not yet at the end of the pandemic and warnings are its going to be a rough, tough and long winter.
Virtual hugs (what a great idea!) and best wishes. Take good care in all ways always, stay safe and well.

P.S: Belated happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for your Thanksgiving greetings, Dewin. We enjoyed a special celebration, albeit much smaller than planned (from 24 to 10) @ my sisterโs farm. The 10 of us sat outside (weather cooperated with an usually warm day!) and wore masks inside ๐ท๐
Yes, I do remember the color of the roses in the rubble because I took photographs of them. Pink, red, yellow – a kaleidoscope of color. Thatโs how I came up with the name for my blog 9 yrs ago, I remembered seeing roses growing in the rubble of Kosovo. Then (no small miracle) I found box of print photos hidden away in 1st place searched. Scanned images for use creating blog header etc.
Hope that you stay well, Dewin, and somehow find roses in the rubble of these challenging times.
Peace be with you!! And your family!! – Virginia ๐๐๐โจ๐นโจ
Despite these unprecedented times, it’s wonderful to hear your Thanksgiving was still a special celebration enjoyed by one-and-all. Family occasions are always great fun.
Those are beautiful colors for roses Virginia, each has their own unique symbolism, that together tell a tales of love, and renewal. I can’t imagine how they might have taken hold, but they obviously did and prospered to reveal their full beauty, and now immortalized in the title of your blog.
Frequent walks amidst Nature’s beauty have brought great comfort during these challenging times. I’d like to hope many people now appreciate the wide open spaces – Nature’s wilderness – a whole lot more now than perhaps they ever did before. She (Nature) is always a wonderful friend. I shall keep an eye out for her winter bells, and cockle-shells, and pretty maids all in a row.
Stay well and warm, safe and dry, and enjoy the build up to the festive season. Take care,
DN
Thank you, Dewin. I am still enjoying walks when I can (although itโs birizzy cold!) Nature is a gift – even bleak trees in winter have something to say! Pls stay safe with new strain of COVID in UK. Take care. May your holiday be blessed with extra doses of love & peace! ๐โจ๐๐๐โจ๐
Yes indeed Virginia, Nature is a gift. She may have her seasons but She remains resplendent throughout the year.
Sadly, I think the new Covid strain sweeping the U.K and Europe will prove to be very disruptive in people’s lives for weeks. That it comes just prior to Christmas – putting people’s Christmas celebrations on ice – and days before Brexit proper is a major blow to millions. Hard times are ahead.
I hope you will have a most enjoyable festive season, and if celebrating have a wonderful Christmas!
Stay safe and well. Hugs and best wishes,
DN
Hugs and wishes for a better new year, Dewin!! ๐๐๐๐ค๐๐
Great quote!
Thank you, Kenneth. Hope you are staying safe and well!!

Wow! Great one
Thank you, Godfrey. It’s something to think about! Blessings!
Thanks
Amen to that. Thereโs a lot to discover outside of our comfort zone.
It takes courage and strength to step out. So help us Lord.
Love & light ๐โจ๐
So help us, Lord, is right Sunshine!! I ask God every day for courage, sometimes it seems like the nudge is there –just do it, BE courageous! The help will come as we act and do… Hope that you are keeping well in these crazy times. Huge blessings and (germ free) hugs – Virginia
Bravo. Super duper. Thanks for sharing this quickie quote that will personally stay awhile with me. โค๏ธ
Thank you, Sparkyjen – When I saw this quote, it’s one of those that had to be shared! Hope that you are staying safe and well in these crazy times. Blessings to you!!! Virginia ๐
Thanks for caring Virginia. I am well. Hereโs hoping you are too. Understanding that it takes all we know about both living our highest and best lives, much of what we do, plus a healthy sustainable spirit helps! โจโจโจ
Iโm glad you are well, Sparkyjen! I like your concept of a maintaining a โhealthy sustainable spiritโ to live our best lives… seems like that requires choice to keep rolling with whatever punches life doles out. โจ๐๐ค๐โจ
Choice! What an important word. โบ๏ธ
Amen, Sparkyjen! ๐๐ค๐
