Thinking About…Heartbeats of Love

What to say, how to say it? So many thoughts weave a dance in my mind, sometimes careening this way, other times that way, occasionally crisscrossing.

“Should I do this? Should I do that? Does it matter either way?”

Then my mind drifts to something else entirely, like what to make for dinner.

Random thoughts appear. Worries that choke forward momentum fall like lead in my stomach. Fear casts its shadow in the mix directing me to the paths of despair.

Extraneous stuff litters the corridors of my mind. Things once used, now discarded. Impressive tools once employed now rust in corners behind pictures of happier times. It’s a messy business walking into the recesses of my mind.

Tiptoeing on into the corridors of my heart scenes flash by: moments of joy, sorrow, love, laughter and friendship. Hope thrashing about during harsh times.

Delving deeper yields a mishmash of memories – some good and some not so good. Through it all an underlying heartbeat of love resounds softly at times, then unbearably loud in moments of clarity and comfort.

The heartbeat of Jesus’ love that says, “I am with you always.”

Open my heart today, Jesus, to hear Your voice within. May my heart beat with Yours now and forever, amen.

Virginia : )

“Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? …No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35-39
