On Memorial Day we remember all those in the military who sacrificed their lives throughout our nation’s history in pursuit of peace. In turbulent times peace came with a price, an expensive price.
Gettysburg National Military Park, PA
Over 51,000 soldiers died @ the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
Shiloh National Battlefield Cemetery, Tennessee
“The muffled drums sad roll has beat the soldiers last tattoo, no more on life’s parade shall meet that brave and fallen few.”
Shiloh means “the peaceful one,” but over 23,000 died @ Shiloh in 1862.
Although they may have come from afar, they are resting in peace in Shiloh, TN.
Chickamauga National Military Park, Georgia
Chickamauga, the second most deadly Civil War battle, left 35,000 dead.
